ROM sites are technically illegal and if you actually read anything on those sites they would tell you if you don't own the game then downloading the ROM is illegal.
It doesn't matter if they give it away elsewhere or on a different platform if you don't own it for the specific platform it is illegal.By your logic since there are so many torrent sites torrenting must be ok. Don't be stupid. If it isn't abandon ware it's illegal to download and just because it's on an older system or not necessarily being updated anymore doesn't make it abandon ware.

Abandon ware are games that nobody discernable actually owns the rights to anymore. Given the fact I've already mentioned that they're on an outdated platform, they're obviously abandonware in that essence. So that argument holds no water.
The odds are next to nothing for titles they don't really sell anymore on that console.
